In her book John, Cynthia Lennon says these photos taken in 1959 in
Liverpool. The friends are Tony Carricker and John Hague, their collegues
in Liverpool Art College. Cynthia is obviously correct and we can verify
this. John Hague was the painter that John helped in 1968 in a gallery
exibition. There's a photo of the two friends and Hague's face is exactly
the same as seen in these old photos. According to Cynthia, the car
belongs to Hague's mother.
