Cadbury Special

The Beatles Cadbury Special Australian Radio Show Acetates

1964. (George Patterson Production) One of the truly rarest Beatles albums in the world is this Australian promotional 2 LP set made in advance of their 1964 Australian tour.

Created at the behest of Cadbury's Chocolate Company, the 1st disc is one-sided with segments including interviews with Beatles' manager Brian Epstein, Keith Fordyce, Alan Freeman and a 10+ minute segment with the Beatles (Paul is absent). The Beatles joke, sing acapella versions of "On The Street Where You Live", "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" and an original "Don't Shoot My Pet Dingo, Ringo"; and generally have a great time.

The 2nd disc is an acetate with one side of Beatles' songs and the other side songs of other various artists of the era. An Australian expert estimates fewer than 50 of these were made and, as the label specifies that the recipient return the discs to the George Patterson ad agency "on completion of contract", very few made it to the collectors' market , probably fewer than 5. This is the only known copy with the 2nd acetate disc. Disc 1 VG-, Disc 2 VG-.
